What is the most intense ride in Epcot? Read on to find out! (P.S.: It’s also our favorite thrill ride ever.)
Not only is Epcot one of the best Disney Parks for adults who truly want to feel like Disney-going grown-ups, but it’s also one of the best places in all of Walt Disney World to experience some pulse-pounding thrill rides.
😌 (Don’t worry — there are plenty of slower-moving attractions and shows to take in if you’re not into full-throttle adrenaline blasts.)
We’re guessing you may be asking yourself, “What is the most intense ride in Epcot?” You may get a different answer depending on who you ask and what they consider to be intense, but if you ask us, the most intense ride in all of Epcot at the moment is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
It’s also our favorite thrill ride, bar none. Read on to find out why.

Why Is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind the Most Intense Ride at Epcot?
GOTG launched in April 2022 and quickly became one of the leading E-ticket attractions in all of Walt Disney World. Hitting top speeds of 60 mph and kicking things off with a powerful reverse launch (think Rock n’ Roller Coaster but backward), GOTG features a state-of-the-art multi-axis vehicle system that rotates your car as it sails through the cosmos.
You’ll also be treated to some of Walt Disney World’s most brilliant lighting displays and monolithic projection screens and effects. There’s loud music and jarring sound effects from start to finish, too.
When Is the Best Time to Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind?

Much like TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom, GOTG: Cosmic Rewind often has long waits mere moments after rope drop. You also have to contend with the vacationers who get to venture into certain Disney Parks 30 minutes early if they’re staying at a qualifying early-entry resort.

Still, your best chance at getting on GOTG with a reasonable standby wait (Individual Lighting Lanes are also available for GOTG) is at rope drop or just before the park closes.
What Are the Other Top Intense Rides in Epcot?
There are two other rides at Epcot that fit the “intense” descriptor: Test Track and Mission: SPACE.
🏎️ Test Track takes guests through a fast and bumpy ride as part of a cutting-edge vehicle test. After skidding, braking, and whipping your way through numerous obstacles, the ride ends in a final chase that sees your vehicle hitting speeds of 65 mph as you cruise along the exterior track of the show building.

🚀 Mission: SPACE is a simulator attraction with two cosmic missions to choose from: Orange and Green. Team Orange travelers embark on a mission to Mars that uses a giant centrifuge for spin and tilt maneuvers, all in an effort to emulate the G-forces of an actual spacecraft launch. Disney even advises guests to be in good health for the Orange Mission and warns those prone to motion sickness and expecting mothers to stay away.
The far-less-intense Green Mission doesn’t use a centrifuge, so there’s no wild spinning to deal with. Instead, guests will experience light vehicle motions as they virtually orbit the Earth.
Final Thoughts About Intense Epcot Rides and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
When we think of Walt Disney World, GOTG: Cosmic Rewind is one of the first attractions that comes to mind.
It’s super intense, but in all the best ways. Lindsay describes it as “a dance party in space,” and we can’t think of a better way to sum up our experience with this amazing coaster.
We’re also big fans of Test Track, but mainly for that final chase!
